Privacy policy

The site owner is based in Germany, so the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. The legally binding version is the German privacy policy. Last updated: October 2026.

1. Controller

The controller is the site owner named in the imprint.

2. Hosting and server logs

The site is delivered via Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). Technically necessary data (IP address, date and time, requested page, browser type) is processed to serve the site securely and reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

3. No accounts, no analytics

Bebelumo has no user accounts and uses no analytics or tracking tools. Fonts are served from our own server, not from Google. If you email us, we only use your details to reply.

4. Storage on your device

To work the way you expect, the site stores a few settings only in your own browser (local storage): your language, light/dark mode, the child age you picked on the “Today” page, items you ticked in checklists, a page-view counter for the “add to home screen” hint, and whether you closed that hint. This data is never sent to us. The site also keeps an offline cache (service worker) of pages you have visited so they work without internet. The legal basis is § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (strictly necessary for the service you requested). You can delete this data at any time in your browser settings.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense) and cookies

To cover the costs of this site we show ads through Google AdSense, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads; this can involve processing your IP address and browser data, including transfers to the USA (EU-US Data Privacy Framework).

Personalised ads and the cookies they need are only used with your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). You give or refuse consent in Google’s consent window on your first visit and can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. Without consent, Google shows at most limited, non-personalised ads.

6. Affiliate links

Some links lead to online stores such as Amazon. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click such a link, the store may set its own cookie to attribute the sale to us; the store is responsible for that processing. See our affiliate disclosure.

7. Children

Bebelumo is written for parents and parents-to-be, not for children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and you can withdraw consent at any time. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, for example the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (BayLDA).
